Damn, I hate Algebra. I volunteered to teach the next section in class today for extra credit and spent a lot of time this weekend preparing. I finally thought I'd be O.K. but almost as soon as I started talking the teacher kept asking me to prove it and wanted to start in on a complex algebra proof which is the one thing I was NOT prepared for. So I basically totally blew it. Someone else got up after that and he was having trouble too, so the teacher told him to do it tomorrow. *sigh* I can't help it if I took algebra 21 years ago and the complex algebra proofs in the book make my eyes glaze over. I wish I had time to go back and study algebra (I even bought an algebra book my Calculus 1 teacher recommended) but I'm way too busy studying Calculus right now!

My only hope now is I do well enough on the final to not blow the C I'm heading for right now, since a C will transfer to USC and I REALLY don't want to have to retake this class.

I have some stuff I've been meaning to post but the final's thursday so I'll probably be way too buried in Calculus until after that!

Yeah, that's the frustrating thing. I KNOW I'm never going to use this stuff again. I just need to get past this to get to the only math I do expect to use again, the vectors and matrices, which I'll need for 3d programming for games. Even for that I just need to understand enough to know which functions to call;).

Well, it'll be worth it to have the Computer Science degree. It's definitely reminding me why I avoided math when I got my first bachelors, though! The final's tomorrow at least, so that'll finally be over and I get a whole week off before USC starts up again for the fall (Yeah, I know, nice long break;)).

I was planning on taking Spanish 3 next summer, but I'm starting to reconsider the wisdom of taking summer classes.

The matrix stuff is important. So's linear algebra. But really, for the most part, it's all "character building" exercises. It's your pennance for getting a computer science degree.

Yeah! Well, at least after this no one will be able to accuse me of not being a 'real programmer' just because I've been stuck doing front-end web development for years;). I think I'll have proved myself! Which is really why I'm doing this to begin with.:)
