Another one of THOSE days...

I think I'm going to have to bring my laptop in with me tomorrow. I've been doing pretty well at keeping up with my friends page here (at least the actual friends) so I decided to tackle SFF-Net, which I've been meaning to read for years but never had time to check. Well, I just completely caught up on all the subscribed groups through their webnews. Now I've started tackling Dueling Modems. This is a good time since I am considering doing freelancing while I'm in school since I won't have this job anymore, and I figure there's more chance of finding work if besides the programming/web development I also do freelance writing/editing (I did have a whole former career as an editor, plus the writing). I already have one publisher I need to contact (I've talking to them before at a couple of industry conferences) about doing some tech editing for them. Well, if I'm getting back into writing/editing I should be networking with more writers/editors, and I haven't been in touch with as many of those people as I would like since the GEnie days. Besides, I miss talking to a lot of those people and want to know how they're doing (and some of them aren't on LiveJournal;). I was pretty disturbed to see some of the things I'd missed when catching up on SFF-Net.

In other news, a good friend of mine just rescued a cat. It was touch and go for a while there (the poor thing was in pretty bad shape, and has some serious health problems), but the cat (Ricky) is home now and seems to be doing well, and my friend says he's the most well-behaved cat she ever had:). Yeah, he is very cute:). According to her he's less than a year old. He's had a rough life for such a young cat. At least he's in a good position now (and he seems to know it). We're going to dinner with my friend tonight so we might actually get a chance to meet him!

Yeah, catching up does take a while! It feels good to finally be making progress, though.
