You just can't make this stuff up:(.
Feb. 3rd, 2005 04:30 pmDamn. This is not a good week. I noticed on Friday and again on Monday that my car was making noise after I shut it down, and Tuesday right after I got to USC it basically blew up on me and lost pretty much all the coolant. I had to call the AAA to tow my car to the mechanic, and missed all my classes (I missed them yeterday too since it was easier to get a ride from my roommate to work than to USC and then work). It turns out the cooling fan wasn't turning on, and they're working on fixing that today. Of course since I have class until 7 tonight (I'm on campus right now) and a quiz at 9am tomorrow I don't know when I'll be able to pick it up!
So last night I was up late waiting for my roommate to help me out with the last of my Video Game Programming homework (on my laptop) and I hibernated it, went to sleep, and woke up this morning to a hard disk error. It looks like my hard drive is basically dead:(. And I hadn't backed up since Sept. 29. And I've been keeping ALL notes for 4 out of 5 classes on that machine, all my e-mail, and a LOT of other stuff. My roommate's going to help me try to attach the hd to another machine to see if we can salvage the data this weekend. Damn, I hope so! This really sucks. At least the laptop is under warranty, but I really need the data on it. I'm in the lab for a class but I think I'll work on it later from home, since I normally work on my laptop so I'm really not in the mood for this right now:(. Did I mention this sucks?;)
So in about 20 minutes I have to go to my Video Game Programming class and tell them my hard drive died with my homework on it. This definitely sucks.
Oh, and to make matters worse I never got the renewal notice for my car registration from the DMV and didn't realize it until Tuesday while I was waiting for the tow truck, so I'll probably be spending a lot of time at the DMV tomorrow. At this point I'm not even sure I'll be able to make it to work tomorrow, and they won't be happy about that!
