*whew*

Today I managed to get caught up in both Dueling Modems (http://www.dm.net) and SFF-Net (http://www.sff.net). In some off time at work I discovered they both have web interfaces, and by getting my membership back to SFF-Net (My dm account was still around) I can now just go to a list of my favorite newsgroups from their private news servers from anywhere and download what's new since the last time I went there. So now maybe I can catch up on the SF community and a bunch of old friends from Genie. I even was careful not to get on TOO many groups, but traffic on either server doesn't seem to be very high from what I've seen so far anyway. It's just as well, since it'll be easier for me to stay caught up.

I even posted in my personal newsgroup on dm. And the response has been about what it's like here...dead silence;). At least here I know one person is reading;). Well, I suppose it doesn't help that I didn't exactly go out and announce that I was back. I probably will in some topics eventually, but I'm not rushing into it. On Genie and at cons around that time I met a lot of people, but sooner or later I realized I knew a lot of people I saw at cons, but not many real friends (although there were a few:)). A couple of people I thought were friends turned out to be anything but:(. I think I might even have pissed some people off because I wanted to meet so many people when I was trying to get into Science Fiction editing. Well, I'm planning on sticking around in both areas but when I do I'd like to see who comes to me. It'll be interesting to see who actually wants to be friends and who doesn't.

Then again, times change, people change (I know I did). I saw someone say something nice about someone who I know wasn't very well thought of in the old days, so I guess people there can tell when someone has changed and not hold grudges. So I guess we'll see what happens.
