sharanWell, I got home last night and took my temperature. 99.9. With 100 degree temperature I just e-mailed last night that I wouldn't be in today. It was just as high this morning and hasn't really gone down, either. I'm on my laptop in bed through wifi because I really haven't had the energy to sit at my computer long at all:(. At least I finally caught up on the last few episodes of 24 season 1 while I was in bed:).
Well, I'm still feeling like crap but I might as well write up the latest news. I had a talk with my Intro to Computer Science teacher wednesday night after class, and he told me I'm pretty much wasting my time at a community college, and that I won't really learn much there. He suggested I call UCLA and talk to a graduate advisor, and he thinks I'd probably do well on the Computer Science GRE right now. So yesterday I called UCLA and found out I CAN apply by the January 15 deadline for the fall even if my GRE scores show up later! So it looks like I'm going to try for it! In fact when I told her that so far I got 10 out of 10 on every homework in that class and 100% on all the quizzes SHE thought I'd do well on the GRE too!
I also checked the GRE site and unfortunately the computer science GRE isn't going to be offered in April, but if I apply by Nov. 7 I can take it Dec. 13. It looks like my only option so I'll just have to take it then and hope for the best, even though I won't have much time to prepare!:) I am really good at those tests at least, and they have one sample test available on the web page (forget about books. The only ones listed on Amazon.com are long out of print and have lousy reviews. I got one but I'm not sure how much it would help me). The regular GRE is fortunately offered as a computer based test year round, so I'll just have to make an appointment. The paper test is no longer an option for me because they apparently got rid of the analytical section for an analytical writing section (and with MY handwriting I'm screwed if I have to write that on paper). I'm pretty annoyed about that change because I always did want to prove to myself that I could have gotten a perfect score on the analytical section if I hadn't panicked and run out of time:(. Well, I guess I'll never be able to do that now!
Well, I am pretty excited about that. UCLA is one of the best Computer Science schools in the country and I can specialize in Artificial Intelligence there, which would be great! That certainly wouldn't hurt if I want to get into Game AI:).
So I spent most of today just lying around (I was really hoping to get more done) but I did get a couple of packages today. My roommate was wondering if they somehow knew I was home;). I finally got a few cds I ordered and my Sound Forge 7 upgrade.
Well, I'm pretty exhausted so I'm going to cut this short and go back to resting.
