Douglas Adams

Today I got an e-mail from a mailing list I'm on with the subject line "Douglas Adams dead" and it shocked the hell out of me. I checked the link only to find out the sad truth that it actually happened. It was a real shock when he really wasn't that old (49 according to the article) but I guess it can happen to anyone:(.

This is a serious loss. He really didn't have that many books out compared to some authors, and it's tragic to think of how much more he could have done. I got into the Hitchhikers books in about 7th grade (and didn't even know about the radio show until much later) and I still love them. I'm really tempted to reread them now.

Well, I'm really grateful I had the chance to meet him once and get his autograph at a launch party for his Starship Titanic game.

Now if only I could have a chance to meet Arthur C. Clarke before that's too late. But I guess unless I somehow get to Sri Lanka that one will be difficult:(.
