I'm currently on campus pulling an all-nighter to get ready for this:

I'm working on the audio engine for the serious games class/Lockdown. And spending a lot of time waiting around for svn or the game to load. Then one more big programming assignment due tomorrow night at 11:59pm and it's all over (and I'll be able to sleep again).

And maybe I'll even be able to read and post here. lot of stuff going on right now.

Checking Livejournal once a month doesn't work too well when my friends page only goes back about 2 weeks. I guess I need to figure out a way to check in a little more often.

Looks like another insanely busy semester. I was actually attempting to keep up on all the reading for all the classes and finally realized I'm going to have to focus on homework and other required stuff first, and then read as I have time, so this doesn't drive me nuts. It's not like I've done all the reading in the past, and I've still done fine. And work's been busy too (there's a deadline at the end of the week). We're working out of a coffee shop in Venice right now because the office situation has not been pretty:P.

I really don't want to be awake right now.

That's the sound of me falling over from exhaustion after the last week of classes. Finals start next week, but by some really bizarre stroke of luck I only have 2 finals coming up, one for 3d modeling/Maya and one for my MIDI class, both practical type finals that don't require studying. Don't ask me how I got off so easily when I'm taking 17 credits!

It's been a rough week, though. My guitar final was Tuesday (and the final quiz for my game design class). Plus it got really cold here and I still had an air conditioner in my window and got cold and have felt sick for the past few days. I may leave work and head home soon since I feeling like I'd fading pretty fast now. I get to work a lot more hours next week at least!

You paid attention during 86% of high school!

85-100% You must be an autodidact, because American high schools don't get scores that high! Good show, old chap!

Do you deserve your high school diploma?

You know, that's pretty close to my average in H.S. Of course I was never the type to do a lot of studying and try for A's. I got by just fine doing the reading the night before tests;).

At least my GPA is much higher now!

That's me falling over from exhaustion. This has not been an easy semester, even after dropping that class. The good news is I managed to not blow the 2nd Calculus 3 midterm today, so it looks like I shouldn't have to drop that class too after all. I think I did pretty well, actually. I'll find out for sure next week when we get the midterms back.

I also went to a meeting today about the Engineering Honor Society, HKN (replace with appropriate Greek letters). I have an interview with them tomorrow and if all goes well the initiation is next Wednesday. I just have to get over my innate distrust of organizations with 3 greek letter names and remind myself it's an honor society, NOT a sorority;). Besides, it's got guys and girls and it's for smart Engineering/Computer majors (and we all know a lot of us Computer/Engineering types are geeks) so it can't possibly be a sorority:).

...so why am I already feeling overwhelmed and like I'm falling behind? I knew 18 credits would be rough, but this is a little ridiculous. I'm not ready to drop anything just yet because I know a lot of it is the THIRTEEN PAGE Electrical Engineering homework he gave us last week that's due tomorrow. I've finished about 7-8 pages in, and I probably won't get much sleep tonight trying to finish it. I was already up until 1:30am last night finishing the Sims 2 Homework to get my sims to have a baby (Yeah, I know, but somehow I thought the EE and Calculus homework were slightly higher priority over the weekend so I didn't spend enough time on The Sims for that to happen).

You know, for only 2 credits (out of 18) this EE class seems to be taking up a totally disproportionate amount of time. Well, it is a review of EE 101 so hopefully it won't be this bad ALL semester. Homework #2 is much thinner, at least!

I just got an e-mail about yet another game class at USC. It's an intermediate game design class (with pre-requisites but they're willing to waive them for qualified students) and it's sponsored by EA and they'll be working on actual Sims 2 modules. Apparently EA are using it to find interns for next summer (not that I can afford to do that unless I have nothing else at that point, since it wouldn't pay enough) AND it will actually fit my schedule if I'm willing to move my Calculus discussion section up by 1 hour. Or do the other thing I was considering and switch to a Calculus class with a discussion section early in the morning, which may actually give me MORE time to work now that I think about it. Getting up earlier wouldn't be fun, but I guess I'll be getting up early for work anyway, so it probably won't make much of a difference, to be honest.

The one catch? It brings me up to 18 credits, and I don't really see anything else I could drop. That would not be fun. I'm definitely going to have to think about this one!

Of course classes start Monday (and I STILL don't know if I got past Calculus 2! I e-mailed the teacher again this morning so hopefully he'll get back to me!).

Anyone have any thoughts about whether I should be that suicidal?;) I had enough trouble with 16 credits last semester!

(Update: I forgot to mention the 2 day intensive workshop in Redwood City EA are flying the entire class to;).)
